[edit] Spectres acquire Sidney Crosby in biggest trade in IGNHL history
(1/31/2009)
Seattle, WA- The Seattle Spectres have traded for one of the NHL's biggest and most marketable names: Sidney Crosby. The Portland Foxes superstar was traded along with Mike Modano and a 2nd Round pick in the 2009 IGNHL Continuation Draft to the Seattle Spectres for Jason Spezza, Derek Roy, and Peter Mueller and a 1st Round pick in the 2009 IGNHL Continuation Draft. Spectres GM Yugo23 acknowledges that it was a hefty price to pay, but felt that he couldn't pass up the opportunity to acquire one of the game's best players. "We had to pay a large price for Sidney," says Yugo23. "Jason Spezza, Derek Roy, and Peter Mueller are all good, young players who have the potential to become amazing players. Jason has already proven that he can be one of the best, Derek is starting to prove it now, and even Peter is showing what he can do, so I had to give up a lot of our team's depth to make this deal. But, when I saw that I had the chance to acquire Sidney, I felt like I had to take that chance. It's not everyday that you can go out and acquire one of the game's best." Yugo23 admitted he tried to go after other players, but he wouldn't say who for confidentiality reasons.
The other player coming Seattle's way is Mike Modano, who is having a stellar season at age 38. Yugo23 says it will be hard to keep Modano at the end of the year, but feels that Mike has every chance in the world to make a case. "Right now, I have a few players on the keeper bubble, and Mike is one of them, but he has as good of a chance as any to earn a spot on this team for next year. Mike's track record has led me to believe that I should not count him out."
While the Spectres have lost three very good players, Seattle fans have got to be excited for the fact that they now have one of the game's best on their side to go along with a future Hall of Famer.
