[edit] The Making Of Your Nebraska Airwing

Owner Andy Skies, when searching for a home for his future hockey team, what better than to come back home to Nebraska? Already known for there great football fans, as well as USHL hockey fans(Lincoln, Tri-City, POS omaha). Putting his IGNHL team right between the two major cities of Lincoln and Omaha, in the city of Ashland. Not a long drive at all from either city, you just take I-80 to Exit 426, which is where the patch on the jerseys came from. The exit already known for the SAC Air Museum, which now sets up for an even more aviation dominated area adding the Nebraska Airwing hockey team. Owner Andy Skies has always been a fan of aviation, so he thought this to be the perfect set up. The entire area will soon begin to really start to grow with the Airwing now here.

Trade announcement, with approval:

Lancers trade Andrej Sekera and the 415th, 426th and 455th picks to the Airwing for:

Claude Giroux and the 474th, 487th and 514th picks.

Reporters gathered outside the GM's office, just moments before the the Airwing's 106th pick in the draft. Seconds later, reports of loud screaming and glass breaking, as well as all kinds of loud noises came from the GM's office. Reporters ran up to the office window, trying to get a peak in between the blinds when all of a sudden a trash can smacked against the window, scaring everyone back. GM Skies then opened the door and steamed out of his office, a face that couldent be any more redder than it was. The reporters then took a peak at the Airwings own draft board and had seen what has happened, Milan Hejduk was taken one pick ahead of the Airwing, and then it all made sense. Well to all you Nebraska fans, we can pretty much promise you that GM Skies will not be calling the "Ice"Holes by there proper name this year.

The Airwing have traded Forward Marian Gaborik and picks 167 and 354, for picks 95, 106, and 146. With the 95th pick, the Airwing have selected Forward Ryan Smyth. "People can call me crazy, but im doing what I need to do, and this insures me i'll get my next player at 106 that I wouldent have gotten at 154. Now I can also focus on a group of guys I do think will last at picks 146, 154, and 163, and with that im happy." GM Andy Skies said.

We will see soon what exactly his plans where.

The Airwing have traded up for the 43rd pick, and select Cristobal Huet, and then use there 47th pick to bring in Ales Hemsky. "It was a big offer trading away those picks for picks later picks, but we'll be fine with that. We wanted to get two of our guys on are list right now and made sure to make a move to get who we wanted." Said Skies. Some think that those players where not the original targets, and that it might of forced GM Skies to run into something alternative that he had thought about.

Next pick for the Airwing will be days away now, at 154.

With the 7th overall pick in the draft, the Nebraska Airwing decided to go offense, Henrik Zetterberg! "Zetterberg has had my eye for the last few years now, so while it was a tough pick with all those great choices, he was the guy I felt best to start building my team around." Said GM Andy Skies.

Rumors Rumors Rumors! Possible trades here and there, who's going to take who, will the Airwing get there top player! With the draft coming up tomorrow morning, things have seemed to really be kicking into high gear. GM's calling other GM's, people trying to move up in the draft order while others looking to move down a few to grab a few extra earlier picks. What will the day bring to us all tomorrow as the draft begins? GM Andy Skies says "Crazyness, and make sure the coffee pot is always full cause its going to be a long day tomorrow, and through out." When asked about who they are looking to take in the draft he responded with this. "You know, we have a couple guys we'd love to have. Picking 7th theres a great chance we'll get our guy, and if not, there are a dozen more worthy of being taken. We are prepared for whatever comes our way during this draft, and we'll be happy with whoever we get with our 7th pick."

There have been rumors both of the Airwing trading up, and moving down in spots as well, but yet nothing has happened.

Don't forget tonight, outside parking lot area of the SAC Arena, the Airwing are hosting a predraft party. Free Red Bulls at the enterence. Party starts at 9pm local time and will last till 3am. Food, drinks, and hockey videos will be played on big screen tv's while we have a couple DJ's as well to bring us great music to the event. This includes GM Andy Skies, who will be mixing us music from 11pm till 1am. "I've always loved the idea of predraft parties/events like this, and this will be a fun thing for the fans, we'll also be giving out free jerseys and shirts, and lots of fun things." When asking GM Andy Skies about him getting rest for tomorrows draft he replied with "You know, I wouldent of gotten any or much sleep anyways, my mind will be all over the place tomorrow. So im ganna hope for a few hours, if not, i'll caffine on up and be ready to go like that!"

The Airwing have recieved the 7th pick in the draft, which pleased owner Andy Skies, with him saying its a very workable position to start with. Which way the team will go with there first pick is still up in the air, but knowing the owner, we can expect goals.

The Third jersey was released today as the Blackbirds jersey, which will be worn at this years home opener. The Blackbirds jersey was made to again go along with the SAC Museum across the road here with there SR-71 displayed there right when you walk in. "I thought it was a great and fun idea to have a third jersey be after a plane, especially one as roxxorz as that...I got to remember not to use such words as roxxorz while taking media quotes." Said Owner Andy Skies. The Blackbirds jersey will be on sale July 4th.
